My favorite place to go, in my city, is the ‘Spring Lake Natural Area’. It’s a 251 acre park that sits above the lake, which is the headwaters of the spring fed, San Marcos River. The Boardwalk Trail over the shallows of the lake, is an awesome trail for seeing all kinds of wildlife. I have spent long moments watching male Tilapia guard, and meticulously clean, their nest, a baby Nutria foraging, and a pair of Red Tailed Hawks nest in a huge cypress tree. I always see something to make my visit worthwhile and leave recharged, and refreshed.
